Day 1- 30 paintings in 30 days challenge- Pink Peonies

Here is a painting I started a couple of months ago! I thank God for this 30 in 30 challenge to get me back to painting! For those who are not familiar with this challenge, I will try to paint one painting every day for 30 days. Most of the paintings I will be listing are small ones but I have some slightly larger ones I started a while back and plan to use this time to complete them. If they are available for sale, I list them at an artist auction site called DailyPaintWorks.com and will link them below with the description. I hope you are able to follow me this month. When I did this in January, I was VERY encouraged by the friends cheering me on, reading their comments and watching the bids (and seeing what paintings drew in the most interest!)

Feel free to forward these posts to your friends and ask them to sign up for getting my posts by email HERE and look on the left side under my picture for a box to subscribe for my posts by email. (*IMPORTANT: you need to look in your in box to VERIFY before it becomes active.) Then all posts I make here will arrive in your email in box.
I will be doing a drawing to give away a small painting for those who are on my subscription!

Day # 27- 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

This is one of my favorite subject matters.
I love to get the glow of the fruit as light goes through it.
I'm getting ready for a large still life show that I was invited to
exhibit along with two other artists. It's not until the fall,
but it was scheduled 3 years ago! It's quite an honor to be invited
to exhibit at the Whistler House in Lowell, MA

Day # 18 - 30 paintings in 30 days challenge.

It's the 3rd week. Yahoo! It's been such an amazing journey
doing this consistently for 18 days!I have been learning so much
doing this challenge. Most especially that I am having fun again. These last couple
of years have been a roller coaster ride of events that have kept many tops spinning.
But THIS year, my resolution was to get back to painting and have FUN!
It's working!!! Here is a reflection of one of my hobbies I enjoy
(not so much this month as my focus is on accomplishing this feat.)

Day # 14 - 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

My husband is a master gardener and is an artist in the field of gardening to name one of HIS many talents!
We (oops I mean HE) grows a couple of beautiful hydrangea plants. At the end of the summer season, he will go around and pick the last of the flowers before the first frost. This hydrangea was clipped when it was still green. But as it dried in the vase it became this beautiful blue-ish green that is gorgeous. I still have it! (Of course the painting is while it was still fresh!)

Day #9 - 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

I know the Holidays are over and it is a bit anti-climatic to post a paint of ornaments!
But this is something I have wanted to do the last two years! But the tree is always put away and the mood is gone by the time I remember it. But this year I knew I would be doing this 30 day painting challenge and someone gave me idea's about subject material that I could use. In this case, the idea was to do next years Christmas card or even use it as part of a calendar!

Day #5- 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

This was a fun piece because of the blue Ball Mason jar! I just loved capturing the light going through it and the spectrum of color as a result.

Day #3 - 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

Tea Anyone?   6x6 oil by Dee Lessard

I thought I'd get this painting done early in the day. Nope. Again getting in under the wire ...at midnight! LOL. I have to work this out so I can get it done earlier! I love doing fine china. My challenge today was getting all the detail in while the paint was still wet. I usually let the underpaying dry before tackling the design stuff. Still fun and challenging. Below is a link if you would like to learn more about this painting!

The Dancer- (pink slippers) oil by Dee Lessard

"The Dancer" oil painting by Dee Lessard

I'm so thrilled that one of my favorite paintings (above) finally found a new home! There has been a lot of interest in this painting, so I just want you to know that I will have numbered  limited edition prints available: matted 8x10 for $30.  Contact me if you would like one!

The gallery I am a part of, East Colony Fine Art Gallery  is helping with a fundraiser for CHAD (Children's Hospital At Dartmouth). I'm so excited to see all of our efforts come together to decorate a table set for 10 people. This event is a black tie event called "the Story Book Ball". Each table is decorated with the theme of a story book. Ours is Charlottes Web! I will post pictures (next post) on the process and final set up, which will be held this Saturday.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Fall season!
Dee

One painting's new home!

SOLD

The buyer of this painting sent me a picture of this hanging at their home!
I always wonder where the paintings are hung and how it looks! So, I was excited to get this! I think it looks awesome in this space! I believe it is in their dining room.

I have been busy these last few months ...yes, PAINTING!!!
I've had a couple of commissions that I'm almost finished with and
had a wonderful show in March that kept me busy too.
Now that the weather is so beautiful, I've resumed my exercise to outdoors and now my painting is done upstairs where I can look outside and enjoy the sunshine! My husband is currently in the yard doing his favorite thing...gardening! Don't you just LOVE spring?!

I'll post my finished commissions soon, so you can see them!

Rhumba...to move body and soul!

Rhumba. 11x14. Oil by Dee Lessard (available)

What an amazing summer we have had and I expect a gorgeous fall ahead of us!
SO many things have happened this summer. Some wonderful things and some not so wonderful. But life marches on! I am contemplating where I am heading with my art. It's a tough economy.
Trying to weigh things out. But I will continue, if not for the love of what I do!

I hope you haven't given up on me! I am still here!
The one painting project I worked on this summer was a commission of a baby.
I will post the process next week. Hope you enjoy following it.

PICKING TUNES

Picking Tunes     6x6     oil     by Dee Lessard     $200

Another piece for my music theme! I used to play guitar...I love the sound of acoustic instruments.
And my favorite player, Bob, can really "pick" well! We actually made a CD together once. I bet most of you don't know that! It was a great collaboration of original music. I had to dust off my guitar for this one but I did listen to great music while it was being painted!  I guess this was "paint a joyful noise"!

Music....touches the soul!

Orchestra's Singer 18x24 oil by Dee Lessard

I love the sound of the violin! I have a friend who let me borrow this antique violin for this painting.
(Thanks Jane!) This painting is in a current show called, "The Color of Music" at East Colony Fine Art Gallery. Music is one of those universal languages and touches each one of us at different levels. I personally love it when a song can transcend you to a different time and place in your life. I'm sure you have experienced the same thing!

Are You Coming or Going?

Which Way?     5x7 oil   by Dee Lessard

Life can get so crazy busy. I have been feeling like I am going in a so many directions lately.
I am working on some painting projects that are new and exciting (I'll be sharing later) and then
everyday life takes over and sometimes it's hard to split up your time. My friends always say, "where do you get your energy?". Lately I only wish there were more hours in a day because unfortunately age is slowing me down!!! LOL. Before I know it, it's Friday and time to post!!!
Here is a painting I did at a workshop. Hope you enjoy it!

BLUE CHINA PITCHER & LEMON (New Auction item!)

Blue China Pitcher & Lemon   6x6  oil by Dee Lessard
Bid on this piece HERE

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
And it does feel like a year since I posted last! But I am still here and painting too!
I did my first public demo at our local art group in December. I actually had a lot of fun and the group was so nice...(they didn't throw tomatoes, so I guess that's good!)
Here is a small painting similar to the one I did for the group demo.

I am starting the year with something NEW!!!
I am planning to do a weekly painting to auction on a wonderful art auction site.
My husband says I can "try it" for 6 months (there's a small monthly fee to join)
and if I sell something I can continue with the auction site!
So here it goes!... and I can't believe I'm starting this on Friday the 13th!
Maybe this will be "Lucky Friday the 13th!" haha!! (I have more faith than superstition!)
