Day 1- 30 paintings in 30 days challenge- Pink Peonies

Here is a painting I started a couple of months ago! I thank God for this 30 in 30 challenge to get me back to painting! For those who are not familiar with this challenge, I will try to paint one painting every day for 30 days. Most of the paintings I will be listing are small ones but I have some slightly larger ones I started a while back and plan to use this time to complete them. If they are available for sale, I list them at an artist auction site called DailyPaintWorks.com and will link them below with the description. I hope you are able to follow me this month. When I did this in January, I was VERY encouraged by the friends cheering me on, reading their comments and watching the bids (and seeing what paintings drew in the most interest!)

Feel free to forward these posts to your friends and ask them to sign up for getting my posts by email HERE and look on the left side under my picture for a box to subscribe for my posts by email. (*IMPORTANT: you need to look in your in box to VERIFY before it becomes active.) Then all posts I make here will arrive in your email in box.
I will be doing a drawing to give away a small painting for those who are on my subscription!

Recap - 30 Paintings in 30 days challenge!

Well, I did it! I am so thrilled at all of the support and also all that I have learned by this little discipline! There is another challenge scheduled in September.
I plan to participate, but I may also do one of my own.
I'm thinking of May. (I'll keep you posted). In the meantime, I will
be giving away a FREE painting! If you are already
getting this post by email, then you are already in the drawing.

Otherwise, you can sign up here:
Feel free to forward this to your friends so they too can be entered.
(VERY important: Don't forget to go to your in box
and click on the confirmation link that is sent. This final step
activates your subscription to my blog and gets you into the drawing).
GOOD LUCK!

So, in case you are needing to think spring...or even maybe Mothers Day, here's some inspiration!

Day # 14 - 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

My husband is a master gardener and is an artist in the field of gardening to name one of HIS many talents!
We (oops I mean HE) grows a couple of beautiful hydrangea plants. At the end of the summer season, he will go around and pick the last of the flowers before the first frost. This hydrangea was clipped when it was still green. But as it dried in the vase it became this beautiful blue-ish green that is gorgeous. I still have it! (Of course the painting is while it was still fresh!)

Magnolia 2

Magnolia 2  6x6 oil by Dee Lessard

Here is the 2nd Manolia painting I did for the fundraiser.
I have to say, how much I love the magnolia tree in front of our house! It's just unfortunate that it gives us such a short show of it's beauty! I think the blooms last about a week or two and a good rain always finishes it off with the ground being covered in white petals.
I am happy that I was able to capture a glimpse of their sweet presence here in these paintings!

Next Friday, June 17th, the night of the auction for the animal shelter should be fun.
If you are in the area stop in ...the event runs from 5:00-8:00 and is held at
East Colony Fine Art Gallery In Manchester, NH.
(click on the link for directions to the gallery)
All paintings (200+) will be sold at $75 each!!!
Hope to see you there  :)

Natures Elegance

Natures Elegance 11x14  by Dee Lessard

I heard that may of you enjoyed the WIP posts that I did last week. I'm happy to hear your feedback!
Since doing a blog, I have to remember to take images of some of the stages ...otherwise I get so caught up in painting and forget to do that. It's getting better though (remembering that is).
So here's a recent painting I finished. Pearls are interesting...I LOVE how simple John Singer Sargent did them in the painting hanging over at the Currier Museum of Fine Art. If you haven't been there, it's worth a trip!

REFLECTIONS OF LOVE

Life can take such sudden turns. At times it can feel like it can give you whiplash! That is how I have felt lately! I have had a few weeks away from painting because of it. But I am ready to jump back in. Here is a small painting I did just before the "whiplash". ... I have chosen to name it as such because when we  are faced with how short our life is it makes you think...."how is my own life making a difference?". I hope that mine will be (even in a small way) a reflection of God and all the wonderful things I see in his creation....

BLACK EYED SUSAN by Dee Lessard

Rudy     5x7  oil by Dee Lessard

Here's a flower cheerfully taking in the sun! One of the may species my husband grows in our gardens out back! Every year I have to ask him to tell me the names of the flowers. They have two names usually...their formal name and then a nick name (usually something short) AND then he'll tell me additional names they may be known by! And he wonders why I can't remember the names!  But, if I paint them I sometimes remember. I tell him my memory chip is full! He understands because he says when he feels that way there's a concern that IMPORTANT information might get pushed out to make room for the other stuff...and he might forget the names of his kids!

This painting is available. If interested contact me HERE
Rudebeckia or Black Eyed Susan or "Rudy" as I decided to call them!

Just Peachy

Here's another painting I finished. I worked on this one for a while ...a little here, a little there!
Some paintings work up really fast. Others are more of a process. (like this one).

Little Petals

 Little Petals
Little Petals 5x7 oil         $195 framed   SOLD

I just wanted to check and see if those who are linked through FB will get this. And if so, then where did it show up? Setting up some of these things have become a trial and error….not being sure of the direction things take!
Here’s a small painting I did in the last couple of months. I’m really happy how this one came out.  Those of you who are “followers” via e-mail or FaceBook (FB) are getting a sneak preview while I test the waters with these links.  I may have it at the show in May (at The Wine Studio in Manchester) if it’s still available. I’ll post more on that show later…. Those on FB, please let me know how this gets posted…on your profile or on your home page. Thanks!
