TRIATHLETE

Triathlete   11x14    by Dee Lessard

I have a cousin, who completed her second Ironman triathlon. To honor her accomplishments her family wanted me to paint something to depict this. This is what I came up with.  I have participated in a sprint triathlon and know how challenging that one is. I can't even imagine doing a full Ironman! (Ironman is  a 2.5 mile swim followed by a 112 mile bike ride which is followed up by a 26 mile marathon run) Can you imagine?!

China Teacups

China Teacups     oil by Dee Lessard  6x6

Here is the final step on the teacups. I just had to add the floral painting onto the bottom cup and a hint of gold on the edges of the bottom cup & saucer.
I love the finishing touches....
This painting will be part of an exhibit I will be doing in February at
East Colony Fine Art Gallery in Manchester, NH.
Reception is Saturday, 2/12/2011 5:00-8:00pm

If you want to see the steps it took to complete this painting
you can look on the right column of the blog where you will see a list of "posts". Look under "work in progress"

WIP- Teacups

OK, so some of you are probably wondering what happened to those teacups.....
Here's some work I did on them last week and hope to post the final later THIS week!
Just adding some detail onto the cups. This is the fun part! I love the detail.
Keep your fingers crossed that I'll get it finished and be able to post before the end of the week!

Christmas Bells

 Christmas Bells   4x6 oil painting      $125

Here's a small painting I did a couple of years ago and made my Christmas cards out of an image  taken of it. Speaking of Christmas cards...that is something that I've ended up sending out less of  in the last few years. I've decided that I would send to the distant relatives and friends that I don't see all year (primarily due to distance) This year I didn't use any of my paintings but I found a card that had a road sign that read "JingleAllThe  Way" And it reminded me of a song I wrote to the tune of Jingle Bells. I figured I'd share it here since the song fits the painting too! Here's the first verse to:

"Cashier Bells"  by Dee Lessard
Dashing through the stores, with a great big rushing crowd;
Always wanting more, shouting it out loud.
Cashier bells do ring, making wallets light;
Dad's face goes white as bills come in, oh what a frightful sight....

Oh, cashier bells, cashier bells ringing all the way;
Oh what fun it is to spend , all for Christmas day;
Oh, cashier bells, cashier bells ringing all the way;
oh what fun it is to spend when it's Dad who has to pay!

Tomatoes

Tomatoes    9x12    oil by Dee Lessard

  OK ...so it's not really Christmasy....but they do kind of look like red Christmas balls if you squint your eyes! I was thrilled to get some time to finish up on a few paintings I had "almost" finished. This was one I did actually a couple of months ago. I had very little left to do (mostly sign my name) before I could take a picture and post it. I am a Weight Watcher member and have been for years (a life time member actually) And I'm learning and relearning about the value of eating my veggies! Especially with the holidays here, I have to keep filled up with the good stuff ...especially when I'm around the stuff that makes me weak...sweets!

Garlic & Onion

Wow, I can't believe how much we have come to depend on our technology! I have had camera problems, computer issues and I'm trying to learn to post through my phone...but without any luck! Now, somewhere along the way I was lead to believe that all this technology would save time and make things easier. Well I'm not so sure about either! And if time is saved then where to? haha!
Well here is a small painting I did a couple of weeks ago while down in North Carolina visiting an artist friend. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
