Trip to DAR museum- Washington DC

I don't know if you remember, but back in November/December  I was working on a large portrait the the NH-DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) commissioned me to do. You can see that post here.  I was excited to take a visit to Washington DC this past weekend to see where the portraits permanent home is! While there, I was able to give it a coat of varnish to help preserve it. I had never been to this wonderful museum. What a truly spectacular place! There is a HUGE ornate library for research that is open to the public to come in and look for your ancestors!  If you get a chance to visit DC, you should stop in!

While there, I had an opportunity to be escorted by my brother in law, Gerard Lessard, OP who has lived there for 16 years and REALLY knows his way around! We saw most of the landmarks and of course a couple of portrait museums. I was absolutely inspired! And I think I have a long journey ahead of me to get even half as good as the great classic artists that I admire. But I will enjoy trying to get there!

Here are a couple of short video's for your to watch! ENJOY!
(If you have a hard time seeing the video via email here is the LINK

The other video is a tour around the Children's Attic Room where you see all the toys from the revolutionary time period!

Here is the link to view the room in case you can't see the video below!

Day #7 - 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

I love Vintage images and even more of little children! This one I painted today!
I absolutely love doing paintings in the sepia colors. This was fun bringing to a more finished level this way!
